Diplomatic and consular training 2023 officially begins
01.02.2023
On 1 February, the diplomatic and consular training 2023 was officially launched in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs Zbigniew Rau and Head of the Foreign Service Arkady Rzegocki.
The event was attended by some of the Ministry's senior officials and heads of organisational units. Minister Rau welcomed the 23 new diplomatic and consular trainees who had successfully completed the multistage selection procedure. The 2023 training is the second one held under the 2021 Act on Foreign Service.
The yearlong curriculum will cover theoretical classes at the Diplomatic Academy, introducing the trainees to the intricacies of the work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and to the diplomatic toolkit. The classes will be taught by experienced members of the ministerial staff and university lecturers. The trainees will take part in study visits to Poland's missions abroad and to international organisations. They will also serve internships at the Ministry and at Polish diplomatic posts to become acquainted with the practicalities of the work.
Once they complete the curriculum and pass the diplomatic and consular exam, the trainees will be awarded the lowest diplomatic rank and they will enter the corps of professional diplomats.
