Establishment of consular relations between the Republic of Poland and the Republic of Kosovo
08.11.2022
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that on 8 November 2022 the Government of the Republic of Poland entered into an agreement with the Government of the Republic of Kosovo in the form of exchange of notes on the establishment of consular relations.
The agreement is the implementation of the Resolution of the Council of Ministers no. 184/2022 of 5 September 2022 on the establishment of consular relations between the Republic of Poland and the Republic of Kosovo.
In its resolution of 26 February 2008, the Council of Ministers recognised independence of the Republic of Kosovo, but it did not at the same time establish diplomatic and consular relations.
Today's agreement will help ensure that Polish nationals are provided with the optimal level of consular assistance on the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.
Poland supports the European integration of all Western Balkan countries and engages in safeguarding stabilisation and security in the region, including by means of KFOR's Polish Military Contingent and the EULEX policing mission in Kosovo, where Poland has ranked the highest in terms of the numerical strength of its contribution for many years now.
