First meeting of the Eastern Partnership LNG Network initiative
20.02.2019
“The impressive growth of the LNG market that we have witnessed in recent years is changing the global energy landscape in a fast pace. It is crucial that countries of the Eastern Partnership as well as the EU Member States can benefit from this global revolution,” said Deputy Foreign Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk during the first meeting of the Eastern Partnership LNG Network.
The Eastern Partnership LNG Network was set up in Brussels in November 2018 on the initiative of Poland and by a decision of the EU and the Eastern Partnership countries. The group is supported and financed by the European Commission and aims to promote liquefied gas in Central and Eastern Europe and in the EU’s Eastern neighbourhood.
The first meeting of the Eastern Partnership LNG Network was organized by the European Commission, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as GAZ-SYSTEM and Polskie LNG companies. The meeting brought together over a hundred participants from the EU and the Eastern Partnership countries. The session was opened by Deputy Foreign Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk, US Ambassador to Poland Georgette Mosbacher, representative of the European Commission Anne-Charlotte Bournoville and the CEOs of GAZ-SYSTEM and Polskie LNG companies – Tomasz Stępień and Paweł Jakubowski.
The next meeting will be held in Lithuania in May this year.
