Foreign Ministers of Poland and the Netherlands hold consultations

On 29 June 2023, Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs Zbigniew Rau and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Wopke Hoekstra held consultations in Łódź.
The top diplomats of Poland and the Kingdom of the Netherlands also launched the 32nd session of the Utrecht Conference, a permanent mechanism of bilateral expert cooperation. Within the framework of this year’s conference, five working groups were set up: single market, security and defence, financial, customs and tax cooperation, energy and climate, and the EU’s external policy.
The Polish delegation included representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Economic Development and Technology, National Defence, Climate and Environment, and of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.
Ministers Rau and Hoekstra also held bilateral talks on respecting rights of Polish temporary workers on Dutch labour market, possible enhancement of bilateral economic cooperation, and other issues. They also discussed both countries’ further support for Ukraine fighting Russian aggression, bringing it closer to NATO and the EU, as well as sanctions against Russia and its liability for crimes committed when it assaulted Ukraine.
Heads of diplomacies of Poland and the Kingdom of the Netherlands also spoke about the situation in Belarus, including about the regime’s repressions targeting Polish minority, and the preparations for the NATO Summit in Vilnius. The other topics included relations with China and the country’s role in the global security context, as well as the EU’s strategic autonomy.
