On Thursday, July 20th in Warsaw there was organized the conference "Europe-Poland-Ukraine.Rebuild Together’23". During the panel on the enlargement of the European Union regarding Ukraine and Moldova Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau was represented by the Head of the Foreign Service Arkady Rzegocki.
The Head of the Foreign Service stressed that Ukraine's EU membership is one of the key preconditions for long-term stability and lasting peace across Europe, and that supporting Ukraine's accession to the EU is in line with Poland’s strategic interests.
The Head of the Foreign Service also noted: - We see the prospect of Ukraine's membership as a very strong incentive for democratic transition. With the necessary reforms carried out in the pre-accession process, Ukraine will become an increasingly predictable and business-friendly market.
The conference "Europe-Poland-Ukraine. Rebuild Together'23" was organised by the Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers and the Warsaw Enterprise Institute. It brought together representatives of governments, ministries and parliaments of Poland and Ukraine, experts, as well as representatives of companies from sectors directly interested in cooperation - including energy, transport, logistics and IT.
In addition to matters relating to cooperation between Ukraine and the EU, issues relating to security, Polish-Ukrainian economic cooperation, post-war reconstruction of Ukraine and the involvement of the private sector in this process were raised.
In this context, the Head of the Foreign Service Arkady Rzegocki said: - Mobilising financial resources for Ukraine will be a major long-term challenge for Europe and the international community. The reconstruction process will be costly and lengthy. It will largely involve the public and private sectors, as well as business. At the same time, he pointed out to the dominant role of the private sector in the reconstruction process in Ukraine.
