Meeting of foreign ministers of Poland and Estonia
14.02.2024
On 14 February, Minister Radosław Sikorski met with Estonia's top diplomat Margus Tsahkna. The talks focused on security and further support for the fighting Ukraine.
Minister Sikorski thanked Estonia for its commitment and support so far. Poland and Estonia are determined to keep up the political, military, economic, and humanitarian aid for this country.
The officials agreed that in order to cripple Russia's war machine it is necessary to adopt another package of sanctions, stop the attempts to circumvent the solutions already in place, and develop regulations that will enable us to allocate the frozen Russian assets for Ukraine's recovery.
The ministers also discussed possibilities of supporting Kyiv as it works towards joining the EU and moving closer to NATO membership.
The meeting's agenda also included the security situation in the region and the preparations for the NATO summit in Washington. The ministers emphasised that Poland and Estonia will continue to seek NATO's political and military adaptation to the threats posed by Russia.
The development of bilateral cooperation was also debated. The partners agreed that the Polish-Estonian relations are very good and wished to consolidate them, both bilaterally and multilaterally.
