Meeting of G7+ countries

On 15 January, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a meeting of directors of eastern departments and coordinators for sanctions of the G7+ countries.
The meeting was attended by representatives of France, Japan, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Ukraine, the US, Great Britain, Italy, and the EU and was launched by Undersecretary of State for European and Eastern Policy Marek Prawda. The key items on the agenda were the assessment of the effects to date of the restrictive measures against the Russian Federation and the possibility to expand them. During the discussion, the participants elaborated on the details of possible tightening of individual and sectoral sanctions (including in arms industry, energy, and financial sectors), and the possibility of mitigating the effects of Russia’s circumventing the sanctions.
On 16 January, the representatives of the G7+ countries continued the debate at the College of Europe in Natolin and were joined by the representatives of research and expert centres, and the academia.
