The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that, in accordance with arrangements with the Prime Minister and in agreement with the Minister for the European Affairs, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to the European Union Andrzej Sadoś was recalled to Poland and exempt from the obligation to perform work at the Permanent Representation.
As of 13 December 2023, the Permanent Representation to the EU in Brussels has been headed by Piotr Serafin, whom the Director General of the Foreign Office appointed in the capacity of minister plenipotentiary pursuant to the provisions of the Foreign Service Act. In 2014–2019, Piotr Serafin was Head of Cabinet of the President of the European Council Donald Tusk. Before that, he was Secretary of State for Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2012 to 2014 and worked at the Office of the Committee for European Integration from 1999 to 2010.
The decisions taken by Minister Radosław Sikorski stem from the Foreign Minister’s powers set out clearly in Article 39(3) of the Foreign Service Act.
