In connection with the events in Alkmaar that bear the hallmarks of discrimination against citizens of the Republic of Poland on the part of policing service and representatives of local government, on 7 October 2023 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs invited the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs finds unacceptable the situations that occurred on the occasion of a UEFA Europa Conference League group match on 5 October 2023 and made incidental Poles, football fans, activists and players of the Legia Warszawa football club fall victim to physical and verbal violence.
As appears from unequivocal victim accounts, measures taken by the Mayor of Alkmaar and local police in particular can be interpreted as imbued with national prejudice.       

In connection with the said situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs invited the Ambassador of the Netherlands to inform her of the above and point to potential negative consequences for bilateral relations and the image of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Republic of Poland.
