Minister Jacek Czaputowicz attended the Visegrad Group foreign ministers’ meeting

Heads of the V4 diplomacies used the working meeting in Prague to hold informal talks.

Foreign ministers of the Visegrad Group convened on the starting day of the new European Commission and on the eve of the London NATO summit. The participants discussed new institutional framework of the EU, Brexit, EU enlargement, including the Western Balkans and Eastern Partnership as well as Ukraine-Russia relations and EU-NATO and EU-US cooperation.

“All of the V4 states speak for maintaining strong transatlantic relations, so we will speak in one voice during the coming NATO summit in London,” declared Minister Jacek Czaputowicz

Head of Polish diplomacy reminded that Poland is preparing to take over the presidency of the Visegrad Group on 1 July next year. Minister Czaputowicz also promised to continue the main threads introduced by the Czech Presidency and start new ones.

“We consider the establishment of the V4 group to be one of the key achievements of our countries’ foreign policies after regaining independence,” underlined Minister Czaputowicz.

Referring to the situation in Ukraine, the head of Polish diplomacy declared support for president Zelensky and his administration’s efforts to bring peace and introduce necessary reforms.

The event was hosted by the Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic Tomáš Petříček who represented the Czech Presidency of the Visegrad Group (V4). The Czech Presidency started in July 2019 and will last until June 2020.

During his visit in Prague, Minister Czaputowicz was welcomed by the Primate of Bohemia Cardinal Dominik Duka.
