Minister Jacek Czaputowicz continues his visit to New York

On Wednesday, Minister Czaputowicz joined President Andrzej Duda at a meeting with UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
He also met with the foreign ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Moldova, Bhutan, and Saudi Arabia. They discussed current issues concerning bilateral relations and cooperation in multilateral organizations. Later on, Minister Czaputowicz met with US Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom Samuel Brownback and US Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook, and held talks with representatives of the American Jewish Committee.
Minister Jacek Czaputowicz and President Børge Brende discussed preparations for the upcoming meeting of the World Economic Forum due to take place in Davos on 21-24 January 2020.
Minister Jacek Czaputowicz and Ambassador Brownback focused on Poland-US cooperation in the area of religious freedom. Ambassador Brownback stressed the significance of the debate on religious freedom which Poland held during its presidency of the UN Security Council last August. He also praised UN General Assembly resolution designating 22 August as the International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence based on Religion or Belief, which was adopted on Poland’s initiative.
Brian Hook thanked Poland for organizing an important debate in the UN Security Council on challenges to peace and security in the Middle East. The event, held last August, was attended by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
On the penultimate day of his New York visit, Minister Jacek Czaputowicz took part in the Transatlantic Dinner hosted by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo during which he made a key-note speech on the security situation in the Middle East.
