The Polish foreign minister’s attendance at the Holy Mass and the John Paul II Catholic Discussion Club were an opportunity to meet the local Pauline Fathers and the representatives of Polish diaspora with ties to the parish, which is the heart of religious and patriotic life of the Polish community. During his visit, the minister learned about the rich history of the Lower Manhattan parish, which dates back to 1875, the history of the church consecrated in 1901 and its current pastoral and patriotic activities.

In a discussion with the representatives of Polish community, Minister Jacek Czaputowicz referred to his numerous meetings with Polish priests, missionaries, monks and nuns whose service outside Poland is not only important to our compatriots abroad but also greatly contributes to shaping a positive image of our country.

It has been yet another meeting of the minister with the Polish diaspora in the USA this year, who underlined the special attention that the Polish government pays to keeping close links with the Polish community worldwide and to fostering Polish identity among Poles permanently or temporarily residing outside their homeland.
