01.05.2019
"I am satisfied with the growing dynamics of relations between our countries,” said Minister Czaputowicz during his meeting with Slovenia’s top diplomat yesterday.
The ministers discussed bilateral relations, current items on the European agenda, regional cooperation, and security, in the context of both common actions within NATO and in global initiatives. “We welcome the fact that Polish-Slovenian cooperation in the EU brings tangible results,” said the Polish foreign policy chief. The ministers agreed that Polish-Slovenian bilateral relations and cooperation in regional organizations are excellent. They noted than the forthcoming Three Seas Summit, which will be hosted by Slovenia in June 2019, will be a great opportunity to strengthen them.
Polish-Slovenian collaboration is also thriving within NATO, as evidenced by the joint participation of Polish and Slovenian troops in the Multinational Battalion Group in Latvia. “We appreciate the Washington Summit highlighting the importance of transatlantic unity for NATO’s credibility and effectiveness,” summed up Minister Czaputowicz.
Poland and Slovenia are actively engaged in the Berlin Process, which supports the countries in the Western Balkan region on their path to the EU. Under its Berlin Process presidency in 2019, Poland organizes a series of meetings and events which will culminate in the Western Balkan Summit, scheduled for July in Poznan. “We hope that Poland and Slovenia will cooperate closely before and during the Western Balkan Summit in Poznan. We believe that the summit will give a strong political impetus to the new European Commission and its enlargement policy,” said the chief of Polish diplomacy.
Minister Jacek Czaputowicz thanked Deputy Prime Minister Cerar for representing Slovenia at the summit of heads of government under the slogan “Together for Europe,” which is taking place in Warsaw today. The summit marks the 15th anniversary of EU accession of the “new” Member States and symbolizes their commitment to shaping the Community’s future.
