Minister Radosław Sikorski meets Algeria’s head of diplomacy, Ahmed Attaf

On Friday, 28 June, Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski met with his Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf. It was the first meeting of Poland’s and Algeria’s foreign ministers in seven years.
The heads of diplomacies expressed their willingness to reinvigorate political relations. They also discussed the priorities of Algeria’s non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council in 2024–2025 and the plans for the upcoming Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
As regards bilateral affairs, the interlocutors endorsed cooperation boost in the agricultural and energy sectors. Algeria, one of the leading natural gas producers in the world, is interested in Poland taking part in its economic diversification, including the production of green hydrogen.
Today’s consultations in Warsaw also concerned regional and international situation, including Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East, North Africa, and the Sahel.
Moreover, Minister Radosław Sikorski drew attention to the business opportunities for Polish entrepreneurs offered by Algeria.
