21.06.2024
Today, Minister Radosław Sikorski received 12 ambassadors of African states accredited to Poland. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss Poland–Africa relations and prospects for enhancing cooperation.
Minister Sikorski introduced the guests to Polish foreign policy priorities and assessed the state of relations between Poland and Africa. Poland’s chief diplomat was presented with the partners’ opinions on the prospects for enhancing mutual relations, including multilateral cooperation. The officials discussed Africa’s growing role in international politics, including in areas such as peace and security, climate issues, strategic raw materials, economic cooperation, migration, energy, and the collective needs, opportunities and challenges of a rapidly growing and young population, as well as the intensification of cooperation within the United Nations and the African Union–European Union relationship.
Representatives of African countries highlighted the excellent state of the robust relationship with Poland, as evidenced by the numerous high-level visits in recent years and Poland’s activity in the UN Security Council’s work.
The participants expressed their full agreement about the need to enhance cooperation on supporting economic development, countering threats to peace and security in the broadest sense, as well as making better use of cooperation opportunities for raw materials and investment in view of the negative impact the Russian aggression against Ukraine has on African countries.
