Minister Radosław Sikorski meets with EU Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius

On 2 April 2025, Minister Radosław Sikorski met in Warsaw with EU Commissioner for Defence and Space Andrius Kubilius. The talks focused on strengthening Europe’s defence capabilities and defence industry in the context of the publication of the Joint White Paper for European Defence Readiness 2030.
The meeting also covered further military support for Ukraine and the European Union’s role in ensuring a just and lasting peace in the region. While in Poland, the commissioner also is also taking part in an informal Foreign Affairs Council meeting in the EU defence ministers’ format. Foreign Minister Sikorski highlighted that the current geopolitical situation should act as a catalyst for an urgent increase in Europe’s defence capabilities, and that defence must be the main priority of EU spending. He also stated that the European defence industry must be provided with incentives to boost its production capacity and shorten delivery timelines.
