Minister Sikorski addresses Senate on Poland’s diaspora policy

On Wednesday, 30 October, Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski addressed the Senate of the Republic of Poland with information on cooperation between the Polish government and the Polish community and Poles living abroad.
Speaking before the Senators, the head of Polish diplomacy announced that the government will adopt a strategy of cooperation with the Polish diaspora by the end of this year. In his address, Minister Sikorski outlined the priority areas of the MFA’s engagement in cooperation with the Polish community abroad and spoke of supporting our compatriots in the East who had been relocated from Poland against their will.
The minister also said that the Pole’s Card Act calls for amendments, especially in regard to specifying in greater detail the criteria for receiving the Card. He attached priority to teaching Polish abroad so that more and more people could learn their mother tongue.
