In his talks with the delegation from the American think tank, the chief of Polish diplomacy shared his assessment of the situation in Ukraine as seen from a Polish perspective. He noted our country’s strong commitment to helping the fighting Ukrainians through both military equipment and humanitarian aid. Minister Rau underlined the effort and solidarity of Polish society, which joined in to help war refugees on an unprecedented scale. In many cases, they found accommodation in private homes across Poland. The minister drew attention to the many systemic measures introduced by Polish authorities. These allow Ukrainian citizens access to, among others, health care and education during their stay in Poland.

Minister Rau also expressed thanks for the significant help the US has provided to the fighting Ukraine and called for its continuation. At the same time, he pointed out the need to bring about Russia’s definitive defeat so that it loses its ability to swiftly rebuild its military capabilities and carry out actions that destabilise and undermine the global order.

The study visit to Poland is the result of collaboration between the American Enterprise Institute and the Polish Institute of International Affairs. The guests included, among others, academics, analysts, and members of the AEI’s leadership and board of trustees. The American Enterprise Institute is an influential US think tank with a conservative profile. It has the status of a non-governmental organisation and its activities are privately funded.
