Minister Zbigniew Rau meets with Moroccan foreign minister
07.12.2021
On the eve of a V4+Morocco foreign ministerial, Minister Zbigniew Rau met in Budapest with his Moroccan counterpart, Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.
Their talks preceded the first ministerial consultations between the members of the Visegrad Group and the Kingdom of Morocco. Poland’s and Morocco’s top diplomats met to review political, economic, cultural and scientific bilateral relations. Minister Rau expressed hope that once COVID-19 restrictions are eased political dialogue could be stepped up further and high-level contacts with Morocco resumed, including a return to plans for a visit of His Majesty Mohammed VI to Poland.
Poland considers the Kingdom of Morocco to be one of its most important partners on the African continent, and one with which it wants to develop economic cooperation based on considerable and yet not fully tapped potential on both sides. Over the past five years, Poland-Morocco trade has been characterised by a positive dynamic trend. In 2020, Morocco was Poland’s second largest trading partner in Africa, at the same time ranking third in Poland’s exports to African markets and first in its imports from Africa.
