20.07.2023
The 8th edition of Polish-Czech intergovernmental consultations was held in Katowice on 20 July. They provide a solid foundation for cooperation between Poland and the Czech Republic.
As part of a separate sub-table in the quad format, the consultations were attended by the foreign ministers—Zbigniew Rau and Jan Lipavský—and the defence ministers—Mariusz Błaszczak and Jana Černochová. They discussed the major points on security and Eastern policy, including military and humanitarian support for Ukraine as well as the related EU agenda.
“Talks at the level of foreign and defence ministries are now important in the context of Polish-Czech cooperation to support Ukraine, the two countries’ air force taking jointly part in the Air Policing mission in Slovakia, and their long-term bilateral cooperation under other NATO initiatives, including enhanced Forward Presence (EFP), and those of the European Union,” said Minister Rau. The Czech side said that the highlighting of our close cooperation and coherence of positions on security sends a strong signal to our external partners.
