17.03.2023
Between 16 and 17 March, Poland’s chief of diplomacy Zbigniew Rau visited the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Minister Rau held political consultations with Bui Thanh Son, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The visit programme included a courtesy meeting with Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Nguyen Duc Hai, Deputy Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly.
Talks covered bilateral cooperation, notably economic and political issues, as well as the international agenda. The consultations at the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed the mutual willingness to reinvigorate the existing relationship, particularly in trade and investment cooperation. The foreign ministers of Poland and Vietnam mentioned the agri-food, pharmaceutical, green and advanced technologies, digital, defence and education sectors as offering the greatest long-term cooperation potential. The ministers exchanged views on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and its implications for the security situation in the Asia-Pacific region.
Foreign Minister Rau also met with Vietnamese graduates of Polish universities, whom he thanked for their contribution to fostering Polish-Vietnamese bilateral relations and promoting Poland in Vietnam.
