On 15 July, Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau concluded an official visit to Kosovo as part of his tour of the Western Balkans in his capacity as the OSCE Chairman-in-Office.
The chief of Polish diplomacy met with President Vjosa Osmani, Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Speaker of the Assembly Glauk Konjufca, as well as with Minister of Foreign Affairs Donika Gërvalla-Schwarz and Minister for Communities and Returns Goran Rakić. He also visited NATO international peacekeeping force in Kosovo (KFOR).
“The purpose of my visit was to meet with institutional leaders, partners of the OSCE mission in Kosovo, and get first-hand information on the ongoing reforms in the fields of the judicial system, fight against corruption, enhancing media freedom, and advancing much-needed electoral reforms,” said Minister Rau.
The head of the Polish MFA congratulated Kosovo on the strong partnership the country has had with the OSCE for more than 20 years now. When talking to representatives of civil society and young activists in the OSCE’s Pool of Trainers, the minister thanked them for their work to develop Kosovo in many crucial areas.
“Through its field operations, the OSCE contributes to further development of a democratic and multi-ethnic society. I sincerely hope that this will also lead to fostering stability and reconciliation in South-Eastern Europe,” stressed the top Polish diplomat.
Kosovo was the minister’s final stop, after Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, during the second part of his tour of South-Eastern Europe.
