“The organisation of the OSCE conference on cyber security is now more important than ever. All the more that malicious cyber activity is an integral part of the Russian aggression against Ukraine,” said OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau in his opening address.

“Raising public awareness of cyber threats is an urgent task for every one of our participating States,” noted OSCE Secretary General Helga Maria Schmid.

Over the two days, nearly 150 representatives of OSCE participating States and partners, experts from the public administration, the private sector, NGOs, and academia, discussed the multifaceted approach to combatting threats in cyberspace.

They participated, both in person and via videoconference, in a debate during a high-level segment that was followed by five thematic sessions. In addition to the three issues outlined in the conference’s title, the attendees also discussed how to best make use of the OSCE’s confidence-building measures in the cyber security dimension, as well as the growing role of the private sector in enhancing cyber security. 

Cyberspace is a crucial part of the OSCE’s comprehensive approach to security. With a constantly looming threat in cyberspace from both state and non-state actors, the OSCE gives priority to co-operation in cyber security. Poland has been actively participating in the OSCE’s work in this area.
