The motto of this year’s Peace Light of Bethlehem campaign is “Let us make peace”.

The Peace Light of Bethlehem has been an international initiative engaging scouts and guides. Its origins go back to 1986 in Austria.

Austrian scouts would bring the flame from Bethlehem to a range of institutions—hospitals, orphanages, public offices—as a living token of peace, brotherhood, hope, and love at Christmastime.

Each year, a girl or a boy selected from among the young charity workers picks up the Light from the Grotto of the Nativity in Bethlehem.
