Poland deposits ratification instruments on Republic of North Macedonia’s accession to NATO
03.07.2019
On 1 July, the Polish Ambassador in Washington submitted the Protocol to the North Atlantic Treaty on the Accession of the Republic of North Macedonia to NATO, which has been ratified by the Polish President, to the US Government, depositary for the North Atlantic Treaty.
The depositing of the instrument closes the internal ratification process in Poland. We expect the Republic of North Macedonia to soon become a full 30th member of the North Atlantic Alliance. NATO’s policy of enlargement is of paramount importance to strengthening the area of security and stability in and around Europe. The Republic of North Macedonia’s NATO membership will not only make the country and its citizens more secure but it will also increase the stability of the Western Balkans region and security of the Euro-Atlantic area as a whole.
