Poland's top diplomat meets with ambassadors of Nordic and Baltic countries

Today's event attended by Minister Radosław Sikorski was held at the initiative of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden, which has assumed this year's presidency of the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8).
The ambassadors of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Lithuania, Latvia, Norway, and Sweden expressed satisfaction with the current state of cooperation in the Baltic Sea region. They unanimously supported the idea to tighten this cooperation and to seek common solutions to problems and challenges the region is facing. Minister Sikorski reaffirmed Poland’s willingness to be actively involved in debate among Nordic and Baltic countries in the NB+ format.
The participants mainly discussed security and eastern policy. The officials stressed the need to further support Ukraine in military, economic, and political terms, as well as their readiness to actively contribute to the country's reconstruction process. Security cooperation and new opportunities related to Sweden's membership of NATO were also high on the agenda. The diplomats also exchanged views on the prospects for developing transatlantic cooperation.
