Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński, held bilateral consultations with the Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt for European Affairs (Deputy Minister), Ihab Nasr

While reviewing the current bilateral agenda and discussing key international issues, the deputy ministers agreed that Polish-Egyptian relations have recently reached a new level of closeness, as reflected in the state visit of President Andrzej Duda to Cairo in May. The president plans to visit Egypt again this autumn as the head of the Polish delegation to the UN Climate Conference (COP27) in Sharm el-Sheikh.

Deputy Minister Jabłoński expressed his wish to strengthen Polish-Egyptian trade relations, including increasing Polish exports of agricultural and meat products. He pointed to Poland’s willingness to host the first meeting of a joint economic commission once the ratification procedures are complete for its founding intergovernmental agreement of 2022. Deputy Minister Paweł Jabłoński detailed the prospects for enhancing Poland’s sectoral cooperation with Egypt in the fields of defence, energy, digital economy, banking, green technologies, tourism and modernisation of the health sector.

Pointing out the global consequences of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, which have also affected Egypt in terms of food security, Undersecretary of State Paweł Jabłoński outlined Poland’s efforts to improve the availability of Ukrainian grain on the global market. Deputy Minister Jabłoński stressed the illegality of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

He also noted the effective, multi-faceted assistance that Poland has provided to Ukraine, which is putting up defence. The deputy ministers also discussed Middle East and Africa.
