The secretary of state held talks with Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Hungarian parliament Zsolt Németh, International Affairs Advisor to the Hungarian President Kristóf Altusz and Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Trade Levente Magyar and József Magyar. He also met with representatives of the Hungarian Prime Minister: Secretary of State for the EU János Bóka and Political Director Balázs Orbán.

Honest and in-depth talks focused on the need to urgently adopt a 6th sanctions package against Russia, as well as on further steps which would help Ukraine and lead to Russia leaving Ukraine’s territory. Deputy Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk presented Poland’s position, including the expectations that Hungary will support the 6th package of sanctions, move away from Russian energy sources, and continue to support Ukraine.

While in Budapest, Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk also met with Liubov Nepop, Ukraine’s ambassador to Hungary. He thanked her for the participation in the #StopRussiaNow campaign, organised by the Polish government.
