10.07.2024
On 10 July the Plenipotentiary of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for countering international disinformation Tomasz Chłoń met in Warsaw with Ukrainian ambassador at large for strategic communications Oleksandr Scherba and members of the Ukraine Communications Group (UCG), consisting of diplomats from several countries.
Today's meeting was an opportunity to coordinate already undertaken joint activities and to identify further priority projects in the field of effectively countering Russian disinformation targeting Ukraine.
The discussed issues include strengthening public resilience to disinformation, as well as the development of joint communication activities especially in African and Latin American countries. The combined capabilities of the group will allow the truth about the war and its consequences to reach public opinion in these countries.
The UCG initiative brings together partner countries and international organizations from Canada, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia, United States, Sweden, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Italy, NATO and European External Action Service. The group was launched on June 10th in Warsaw. Countering disinformation is also one of the objectives of the Polish-Ukrainian security cooperation agreement signed on 8 July.
