The discussion will be attended by the UN Under-Secretary-General for Legal Affairs Miguel de Serpa Soares and the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Peter Maurer. German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas announced his attendance as well.

The briefing was organised to mark the 70th anniversary of signing of the Geneva Conventions, the cornerstone of international humanitarian law, on 12 August. Poland attaches great importance to the observance of international law and the protection of civilians. These issues are among the priorities of Polish membership in the UN Security Council in 2018-2019.
