Ambassador met Ethiopian students awarded with the Banach Scholarship for upcoming academic year

The staff of our Embassy had a pleasure to organise a courtesy meeting with a group of Ethiopian students, who are about to set up for Warsaw. The young Ethiopians received Banach Scholarship and are about to start their various MA courses across Poland since October.
This was a great opportunity to talk about their plans, expectations and challenges they will be facing in their new environment. After greeting by Ambassador Przemysław Bobak, the students were invited to watch short promotion movie on Polish culture and history and to join the discussion over a drink. Solyana, yet another young Ethiopian, who has been studying at Karol Marcinkowski Medical University in Poznan for five years gave some practical and valuable insights and advices about student life in Poland to her younger compatriots..
The Banach Scholarship Programme, being joint initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Agency for Academic Exchange within the framework of Polish Aid, may be applied for by citizens of over 30 countries. Citizens of Ethiopia may receive scholarships for studying engineering and technical sciences, agricultural sciences, exact sciences, and life sciences. The scholarship covers cost of studies at best state-run universities in Poland, students receive also suitable allowance every month.
This year altogether 29 young Ethiopians received the scholarship, being the second biggest group of all beneficiaries.
