The Department is responsible for identification, detection and combating of, inter alia, fiscal crime and fiscal offence as well as cases of crime and offence associated with the infringement of the provisions related to goods for which trading is subject to prohibition or restriction.

The flag of the European Union Department for Combating Economic Crime is a beneficiary of European Commission (OLAF) funding under the Hercule III Programme (2014-2020): Community Action Programme to promote activities in the field of the protection of the Community's financial interests.
