12.05.20212nd International Competition of Polish Music Stanisław Moniuszko 2021The 2nd edition of the Competition will be held from September 11 to 18, 2021 at the Philharmonic Artur Malawski in the city of Rzeszów. Participants will compete for a total prize pool of over 80,000. EUR in two categories - piano and chamber ensembles. The competition is organized by the Institute of Music and Dance, and the main financial prizes are funded by the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport.

The masterpiece is characterized by romantic and comedic features and at the same time by a strong patriotic flavor. The Opera was written after the fall of the January Uprising in 1864. It is considered to be the best opera by Moniuszko and the best Polish masterpiece of this type from the 19th century.

For its time, it was a progressive and bold legal act which initiated a number of reforms. It also constituted a crowning achievement of the centuries-old links between Poland and Lithuania.
