Head Office of Geodesy and Cartography (GUGiK)

Thanks to the invitation of the Director of the National Geographic Information Centre of Spain, Emilio López Romero, GUGiK was able to present its activities during the Iberian Conference on Spatial Data Infrastructure(JIIDE).

This year, through the CODIIGE, the Iberian Conference on Spatial Data Infrastructures (JIIDE) and the 3rd geoEuskadi Congress was held together to take advantage of, boost and promote activities related to geographic information in all sectors.

The JIIDE conference was the result of the collaboration between the Direção-Geral do Terriório de Portugal, the National Geographic Information Centre of Spain and the Government of Andorra. In this edition of the conference, all these organisations joined forces and participated in an event that took place simultaneously, with the aim of attracting and bringing together leading experts, technicians and specialists from different sectors of spatial information.

This joint event of representatives from Portugal, Spain and Andorra focused on issues related to new technological trends in the accessibility and reuse of data, artificial intelligence and current techniques for observing and representing the Earth. This year, the theme was the value of geospatial data.

Representing the Head Office of Geodesy and Cartography, Director of the Department of Strategy and International Cooperation Ewa Surma presented the current activities of GUGiK related to the potential of spatial information, ongoing projects and issues related to the implementation of artificial intelligence.
