Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Poland

It was the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in 45 years, which made a part of the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Poland and India. The main objective of the visit was to raise Polish-Indian relations to the level of a Strategic Partnership.
The program of Prime Minister Modi's visit to Poland included bilateral talks with Prime Minister Donald Tusk, as well as a meeting with President Andrzej Duda. Prime Minister Modi also met with members of the Indian diaspora in Poland, representatives of Polish companies operating in India, Polish Indologists, as well as the captains of the women's and men's teams of a sport originating from the Indian subcontinent - kabbadi.
After the talks between the delegations, both sides presented a five-year "Action Plan" (2024-2028) for the Polish-Indian Strategic Partnership, which identified a number of areas of cooperation, including defence, trade, agriculture, energy, green technologies, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals and mining.
Prime Minister Modi laid wreaths at places commemorating important events in the shared history of Poland and India: the monument of the Good Maharaja Jam Saheb of Nawanagar and the memorial of the royal family of Kolhapur, who sheltered Polish refugees evacuated with Anders' Army from the Soviet Union in 1942, as well as at the monument to the Battle of Monte Cassino, where Polish and Indian soldiers fought together. He also paid tribute at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
On the sidelines of the visit, Minister Radosław Sikorski met with the Minister of External Affairs of India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, who accompanied Prime Minister Modi.
