Polish Returns NAWA

The National Agency for Academic Exchange has announced a call for applications for the next edition of the NAWA Polish Returns programme.
The aim of the programme is to enable outstanding Polish scientists to return to their home country and take up employment in Polish universities, scientific institutes or research institutes. The programme creates an opportunity for scientists residing
in foreign scientific centres the opportunity to create their own project group in Poland and conduct research under optimal conditions. National universities, scientific institutes and research institutes can attract specialists with international experience and knowledge of the latest research trends in their scientific discipline.
The programme includes two tracks, depending on the stage of the researcher's career:
- Junior scientist track
- Experienced scientist pathway.
A returning researcher can be a person who:

is a Polish citizen
-
have at least a doctoral degree (for the junior scientist track obtained not earlier than 7 years before the submission of the application)

within the period indicated in the call for applications has worked as a researcher in a foreign university, research institute or research department of a company and has not lived and worked in Poland during that time
-
can demonstrate an internationally recognised and distinguished body of research work in the context of their discipline and stage of career as part of their research work abroad, have gained experience in leading a research team or research project (for the Experienced scientist pathway).

- remuneration of the project group
- remuneration of the inviting person
- resettlement of the returning scientist
- a research component funded by the National Science Centre or an application component funded by the National Centre for Research and Development.
Within the Junior scientist pathway, projects of 24 to 36 months can be planned, with NAWA funding of up to PLN 1,143,200. In the Experienced scientist pathway, projects of 36 to 48 months with NAWA funding of up to PLN 2,397,600 are possible. Additionally, in the case of basic research, it is possible to apply for the NCN research component - a start-up grant of up to PLN 200,000, and in the case of applied research and development work, for the NCBR application component of up to PLN 400,000. The allocation in the call is PLN 16 million.
