Bahrain
Diplomatic relations between Poland and Bahrain were established in 1990.
Political cooperation
There is one bilateral agreement between Poland and Bahrain up to this day – Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Poland and the Government of the State of Bahrain on air services, signed in 1998 (in effect from 1999).
Economic cooperation
Data for 2017 showed a trade turnover of around USD 88 million, of which USD 49 million was related to Polish exports). In 2017, the positive trade balance with Bahrain increased (for the first time in many years we recorded a surplus in trade with Bahrain in 2016). According to Polish Central Statistical Office data for 11 months of 2018, Polish-Bahraini trade turnover amounted to USD 71.4 million (a decrease of 9.8 64% compared to the same period of 2017), including Polish exports which reached USD 20.8 million ( decrease by 52.6%), while imports reached USD 50.6 million (increase by 43.9%). Bahrain's investments in Poland are mainly of a portfolio nature. Banks and companies from Bahrain primarily bought Polish government bonds, however, using the intermediation of their subsidiaries or agents operating in Europe. The amount of Bahraini capital located in Poland is difficult to estimate. Private investors are focused on the real estate market, small trade and gastronomy. Official statistical data did not report any Bahraini direct investments in Poland or Polish investments in Bahrain. The base for the expansion of the Polish presence is very modest - however, it is possible to increase our sales in almost all areas. Opportunities should also be seen in the country's investment plans.
