The 6th Gulf International Chopin Competition winners awarded

On Thursday, 8 April, an award ceremony was held at the Polish Embassy in Kuwait for the winners of the 6th International Gulf Chopin Competition, organised by the Kuwait Music Academy under the honorary patronage of the Polish Embassy in Kuwait.
150 students from Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates took part in the competition. The candidates represented over 30 nationalities. The first edition was held in December 1999.
The intimate award ceremony, with all sanitary standards observed, was attended by the winners, family members and also representatives of the Kuwaiti media.
Four winners were awarded. The Grand Prize and the Ambassador's Award went to Yamin Tarek, the winner in the Polonaise category was Tejia Wang, in the Grand Valse category Deema Mouazzen was awarded. The Chopin Prize in the Debut category went to Witold Masternak, one of the youngest participants in the competition.
In their addresses to the guests, the organisers from the Kuwait Music Academy and the Polish Ambassador Paweł Lechowicz congratulated the winners for their talent and skills. The role, significance and contribution of Fryderyk Chopin's work to world music was emphasised.
The Polish Ambassador expressed regret that due to the current coronavirus pandemic, the Embassy's planned cultural activities had to be significantly curtailed.
