Poland in Malta

Ambassador Tomasz Czyszek donated a copy of S. Lem's 'The Cyberiad' to every secondary school library in Malta and Gozo. In this way, the 100th birthday of the Polish writer, celebrated this year, was emphasized on the islands.

On the occasion of the celebrated this year the 100th anniversary of the birth of Stanisław Lem, we cordially invite Polish teenagers living in Malta and their Maltese friends for theatre workshops based on one of the stories from the series 'The Cyberiad' by S. Lem. The workshops will take place on 12 December at 11.00 - 13.00 in NSTS Campus Residence.

On November 12th, there was a screening of the Polish film 'I never cry' directed by Piotr Domalewski. The film was presented to the public as part of the European Film Festival - the first joint project organized by members of the EUNIC Malta cluster, to which on March 26th the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Valletta also joined.

On 11 November 1918, 103 years ago, Poland regained its independence. On this day, after his release from the Magdeburg Fortress, Józef Piłsudski took over military command from the Regency Council and, three days later, assumed supreme authority over civilian matters, to finally “as Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Army [...] notify belligerent and neutral governments and nations” of the reappearance of “the reborn and independent Republic of Poland” on the map. After 123 years of captivity, Poland became a sovereign and internationally recognised state.

On November 10th, the Polish Embassy organized an event on the occasion of Independence Day and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Poland and Malta. The guest of honor was the President of Malta, George Vella, and his wife. The event was held on the representative part of the campus of the University of Malta in Valletta. After the official part, the gathered guests took part in the performance entitled 'Polish-Maltese Duets'.

On October 31st an article by Polish Prime Minister M. Morawiecki on the ruling of the Constitutional Tribunal was published in 'The Times of Malta'.

On October 26th the ambassador's article on the Polish Constitutional Tribunal ruling was published in 'The Malta Independent'

on October 23rd, 1971 - Poland and Malta established diplomatic relations at the embassy level. This took place as a result of the announcement of a joint communiqué by representatives of both countries

On October 21, as part of the dissemination of Fryderyk Chopin's works in Malta and the promotion of the 18th International Chopin Competition, a recital of the Polish pianist living in Malta, Julia Miller, took place. She presented selected works by Fryderyk Chopin in St. James Cavalier in Valletta.

On October 20th, the international promotion of the documentary entitled "Code Zero" directed by Piotr Śliwowski, realized by the Polish National Foundation took place at the Valletta Campus Theatre of the University of Malta. The film shows the successes and struggles of the crew of the I Love Poland yacht.
