Research and development departments

Research and developement departments

Equipment and Systems Testing Department (Z-1)

Conducts work in the field of telecommunication systems and devices.

Department of ICT Market Analysis and Development (Z-2)

Focuses on activities related to the development of telecommunication networks and the infrastructure of the information society.

Department of Cybersecurity (Z-4)

Specializes in cybersecurity research, focusing on models, methods, and techniques for assessing the cybersecurity of processes, products, and ICT services, as well as the safety and reliability of telecommunication networks. It also establishes cybersecurity and privacy requirements and develops products, processes, and services in accordance with the principles of "security by design," "privacy by design," and "privacy by default."

Department of Advanced Information Technologies (Z-6)

Develops and implements scientific research projects in the field of information systems, covering distributed ICT systems, theories of design, control, and analysis of ICT networks, decision support systems, intelligent systems, and knowledge management.

Wireless Systems and Networks Department in Gdańsk (Z-8)

Conducts R&D in radio communication and satellite systems, wireless sensor networks, modern transmission techniques, wireless transmission security, and propagation issues in terrestrial and maritime systems. The department is also involved in the design and simulation of radio networks, safety analysis for land and sea operations, measurement of system parameters, and the preparation of expert opinions and technical documentation.

Central Chamber for Telecommunication Measurements (Z-12)

Conducts research in the field of metrology, including electrical measurements (especially in the high-frequency range), signal transmission parameters in ICT networks, time and frequency, and photonic metrology. Z-12 ensures measurement consistency with national and international standards by providing calibration services for measuring instruments and conducting inter-laboratory comparisons.

Electromagnetic Compatibility Department in Wrocław (Z-21)

Engages in R&D in electromagnetic compatibility for devices, systems, and radio and TV networks, as well as protection against radio interference. It works on radio, broadcasting, and TV antennas, radio transmission lines, and the measurement of transmitting and receiving antennas. The department studies the phenomena and mechanisms of electromagnetic hazards, assesses and qualifies environmental risks, and has the authority to approve support structures for antennas.

The department includes:

  • Spectrum Management and Engineering Lab
  • Fields and Interference Research Lab
  • EMC Research Laboratory
  • EMC Measurement Equipment Laboratory.
