Department of ICT Market Analysis and Development (Z-2)
Focuses on activities related to the development of telecommunication networks and the infrastructure of the information society.
Department of Internet Technologies and Applications (Z-3)
Carries out research on new architectures for telecommunication networks and the application of emerging technologies within these networks. Additionally, it conducts studies on the use of the Internet for various services, including multimedia, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Smart Cities. The scope of work also includes planning and dimensioning telecommunication networks. Z-3 engages in R&D activities such as building laboratory networks, prototyping new network solutions, creating tools for simulating telecommunication systems, and conducting simulation research. It also focuses on designing, implementing, testing, and remotely providing virtual laboratory network resources.
The department performs expert assessments and analyses concerning the development of telecommunication networks, the implementation of new technologies, and the use of the Internet for diverse applications.
Department of Cybersecurity (Z-4)
Specializes in cybersecurity research, focusing on models, methods, and techniques for assessing the cybersecurity of processes, products, and ICT services, as well as the safety and reliability of telecommunication networks. It also establishes cybersecurity and privacy requirements and develops products, processes, and services in accordance with the principles of "security by design," "privacy by design," and "privacy by default."
Department of Advanced Information Technologies (Z-6)
Develops and implements scientific research projects in the field of information systems, covering distributed ICT systems, theories of design, control, and analysis of ICT networks, decision support systems, intelligent systems, and knowledge management.
Wireless Systems and Networks Department in Gdańsk (Z-8)
Conducts R&D in radio communication and satellite systems, wireless sensor networks, modern transmission techniques, wireless transmission security, and propagation issues in terrestrial and maritime systems. The department is also involved in the design and simulation of radio networks, safety analysis for land and sea operations, measurement of system parameters, and the preparation of expert opinions and technical documentation.
Department of Telecommunications and Energy Power Supply (Z-10)
Engages in scientific research and performs analyses and expert assessments on the quality, reliability, technical and economic performance, and operational aspects of existing and newly designed power systems. It develops technical specifications and projects for the use of energy storage in telecommunications and energy systems, designs and evaluates power supply systems for telecommunications, and explores the use of renewable energy sources and advanced energy storage technologies. The department also undertakes implementation, installation, service, and training activities.
Central Chamber for Telecommunication Measurements (Z-12)
Conducts research in the field of metrology, including electrical measurements (especially in the high-frequency range), signal transmission parameters in ICT networks, time and frequency, and photonic metrology. Z-12 ensures measurement consistency with national and international standards by providing calibration services for measuring instruments and conducting inter-laboratory comparisons.
Electromagnetic Compatibility Department in Wrocław (Z-21)
Engages in R&D in electromagnetic compatibility for devices, systems, and radio and TV networks, as well as protection against radio interference. It works on radio, broadcasting, and TV antennas, radio transmission lines, and the measurement of transmitting and receiving antennas. The department studies the phenomena and mechanisms of electromagnetic hazards, assesses and qualifies environmental risks, and has the authority to approve support structures for antennas.
