Margareta Kassangana - Polish Ambassador in the Kingdom of the Netherlands

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to the Kingdom of The Netherlands

From 2018 to 2022 Ms. Kassangana was Ambassador of Poland to Senegal, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau and Mali.

She graduated from the University of Warsaw, Faculty of Journalism and Political Sciences (Master of International Relations, 1999) and Maastricht University Post–graduate Studies on the European Integration and Law, 2001).

After graduation she worked in the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, dealing with matters related to Poland’s cooperation with the International Labour Organization.

Ms. Kassangana joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2001, where she worked in the UN Department, dealing with social and gender issues.

From 2004 to 2007 she served as Second and then First Secretary in the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Poland to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva,  focusing on humanitarian, refugees and migration matters.

From 2007 to 2010 Ms. Kassangana worked in the European Commission DG Relex (external relations), then  after entering  into force of the Liston Treaty she worked in the newly established External Action Service- EEAS, dealing with cooperation with the United Nations, in particular in the field of human rights, gender, social development, labour, migration and culture.

After returning to Warsaw, she re-joined the MFA, as Head of Unit in the Public and Cultural Diplomacy Departament.

In 2013 Ms. Margareta Kassangana became Deputy Director of Africa and the Middle East Department, responsible for Sub-Saharan Africa and relations with Israel, Palestine and Jordan. She was instrumental in developing Polish policy towards Sub-Saharan Africa.

From 2015 to 2017 Ms. Kassangana held the positon of Deputy Permanent Representative of Poland to the United Nations in New York, leading successful camping of Poland for becoming a non-permanent member of the Security Council in 2018-2019.

 

Personal interests: travelling, discovering new, original food, Italian opera and Latino music, XX century Polish poetry.
