A three-day event celebrating the 25th anniversary of POHOS in Dunedin
On November 18, 2023, the Polish Heritage of Otago & Southland Charitable Trust (POHOS), with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Wellington, organized a series of events commemorating the 25th anniversary of the organization.
The series of events included, among others, the public exhibition of the first edition of the book written by the Foster brothers - Polish naturalists - members of James Cook's second expedition to New Zealand, the opening of the exhibition of Polish artists in the City Gallery, an official dinner for members and supporters of POHOS and a Holy Mass commemorating the 75th anniversary of the transfer of the first Polish Church in New Zealand (Mary Queen of Peace in Broad Bay) to its current location. The latter event was attended by, among others, The Bishop of Dunedin and Minister for Food and Fisheries, Rachel Brookings.
