Diplomatic relations between Poland and Tuvalu were established on 4 May 2015.

Historical view
Ambassador Zbigniew Gniatkowski presented the Letters of Credence to the Governor General of Tuvalu Sir Iakoba Taeia Italeli on 1 February 2017, starting the first-ever mission as the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Tuvalu. In Funafuti, the Polish Ambassador met with representatives of Tuvalu Government including Prime Minister Enele Sosene Sopoaga, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economic Development Maatia Toafa and Minister of Home Affairs and Rural Development Namoliki Sualiki Neemia as well as the heads of several governmental agencies.
Another substantial objective of this visit was a technical mission with participation of a Polish engineer Piotr Grzybowski, PhD of the Warsaw University of Technology. Dr Grzybowski’s mission involved assessment of the current situation and further needs in waste management, sanitation and water management in Tuvalu.
The official delegation of Tuvalu led by the Prime Minister Enele Sopoaga participated in the 24th World Climate Conference under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change COP24 in Katowice, Poland in December 2018.
On 30 September 2023, Polish Ambassador Grzegorz Kowal visited Tuvalu and presented the Letters of Credence to the Governor General of Tuvalu, Sir Tofiga Vaevalu Falani. During his meeting he emphasized both the importance Poland attaches to the Pacific area and the will to deepen relations between Poland and Tuvalu. He has met with the representatives of the goverment, including Prime Minister, Kausea Natano and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Panapasi Nelesone focusing on common interest including: exchange of experience in distance learning, cooperation between maritime universities and issues of combating the negative effects of climate change.
