07.05.2023
On May 7, 2023, at the Polish House in Wellington, the Polish Association in New Zealand, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Wellington, organized a ceremony to celebrate the May 3rd Constitution Day.
Numerous representatives of the Polish community and representatives of the Holocaust Center NZ were seated at the lavishly and elegantly laid tables. After being greeted by Ms Elżbieta Rombel Polaczuk- the current President of the Association- it was time for Ambassador Grzegorz Kowal's speech, in which he referred to Polish democratic traditions, derived from the Constitution of May 3rd. He also thanked the Polish community for their commitment of promoting Polish culture, language and history in New Zealand. In addition to the solemn singing of the Anthem and the Rota, there was also a recitation of patriotic poetry with the accompaniment of violin and clarinet. Traditionally, the guests were graced by the performances of the folkloric dance groups "Orzeł" and "Orlęta".
