On February 24, 2024, Amb. Grzegorz Kowal, on behalf of the President of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Andrzej Duda, had the honour to present Mr and Mrs Pawlikowski with the high national awards.

The ceremony was attended by many representatives of the local Polish community. The event was also an opportunity to meet with the Pahiatua Children and their descendants and allowed to emphasize the importance of the 80th anniversary of the celebration of their arrival in New Zealand.
