On October 21, at the Little Theater in Lower Hutt, a premiere of the long-awaited theater play "Peter Pan" took place. After many weeks of rehearsals and preparations, children aged 3 to 15 stood on the stage and charmed the audience with their "Polish" interpretation of the well-known fairy tale.

In the scenography, you could admire the views of the Polish landscape; in the dance and music, you could hear well-known rhythms from Polish folk dances; and in the costumes, you could find elements of folkloric costumes. Captain Hook, as befits a dangerous pirate, motivated his ship's crew through shanties. The biggest excitement was palpable among the audience, the vast majority of whom were the youngest Polish diaspora from the Wellington region, at the appearance of the famous crocodile on the stage!

There was no end to the applause. Ambassador of the Republic of Poland Grzegorz Kowal, who was in the audience with his children, thanked all the artists for their beautiful performance and congratulated everyone involved in the production of the performance - from the director, choreographers, and the team supporting the musical and visual setting to the parents, without whose motivation and dedication the project would not be possible.

The president of the Polish Association in New Zealand, Elżbieta Rombel, added to her thank-you speech an exciting announcement of the next performance of 'Peter Pan' which will take place during the PolArt festival in Wellington in 2025.

The performance was co-financed by the Embassy as part of the program under the Department for Cooperation with the Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad.
