In the morning of 10 November 2020, Ambassador Grzegorz Kowal laid flowers at the grave of Kazimierz Wodzicki, Consul General of the Republic of Poland in 1941-45. Both, Consul and his wife Maria were instrumental in bringing a group of 733 Polish Pahiatua Children to New Zealand. This year marks the 76th anniversary of those events.

Flowers were also laid by the President of the Polish Association in New Zealand Helena Fagan. The ceremony at the Karori Cemetery was attended by several of the original Pahiatua Children and the President of the Polish Ex-Servicemen Association in New Zealand Marian Ceregra.

Following the ceremony, all gathered were invited to the Polish Embassy's premises to share recollections and commemorate the upcoming Poland's Independence Day.
