On May 4, we had another opportunity to spot the Polish flag and be reminded about the Polish presence in New Zealand. During the regatta in Oriental Bay, Wellingtonians could admire a yacht under the Polish flag.

The Embassy had an honour to sponsor a cup for the best female helmsman of the season at the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club. The trophy recognized a Polish outstanding woman, Krystyna Chojnowska-Liskiewicz, the first woman to circumnavigate the globe alone.
