“Wolf's Trail” Run/Walk in Christchurch, March 5, 2023

05.03.2023

Participants of the walk

More than forty participants in the annual "Wolf's Trail" Run/Walk were not deterred by rain and cold. The event was dedicated to the memory of Zygmunt Olechnowicz, a soldier of the anti-German and anti-communist underground (1942-1949) who perished in Soviet casemates after over 40 years of suffering. The memory of the exiles to Siberia (1939-1952) was also honoured, including Polish Children from Pahiatua and their families.

At the finish line, after covering 1963 meters, the participants were presented with well-deserved diplomas and medals.

The run was organized by the South Island Branch of SPK, in cooperation with Polish Association in Christchurch. Its sponsors were: Embassy of the RP in Wellington, SPK in NZ, Polish Association in Christchurch, Chancellery of the Prime Minister in Warsaw, Institute of National Remembrance in Warsaw, Freedom and Democracy Foundation in Warsaw, and Our Polonia Association in NSW.
