In 2008 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced a competition for the graphic sign of the Polish foreign aid programme.

The competition, held by the Department of Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was addressed to master and doctoral students, both full-time and part-time, of the Academies of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Łódź, Katowice, Kraków, Poznań, Warsaw, Wrocław and the European Academy of Arts.

The competition entries were assessed by a team consisting of graphic design specialists and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The first prize went to Bartłomiej Zygmunt Siegmund, a student of the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań. One distinction was also awarded to Iga Borkowska, a student of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. No second and third distinctions were awarded.
